Name: Dizz Integrator
What are the reasons behind your derby name and number?
Dizzy doo is a nickname that some friends would call me. I’m quite clumsy! Calculus was my favorite subject in school so I had to choose between deriving and integrating. Integrating won!

Which position do you play?
I am usually a blocker, but my teammates have been encouraging me to try jamming during practice/scrimmages.
What is your favorite thing about derby?
My favorite part is meeting all the different types of people who play. I would never get to meet the same eclectic group in my previous social circles.
What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned playing derby?
There is no perfect build for roller derby. Short, tall, stout, skinny…we all have different advantages on the track.
What first attracted you to derby?
I received a recruitment flyer when Whip It was in theaters. I was looking for a sport to play in my spare time to stay in shape during that time. Skating sounded more fun than basketball and rugby.
What type of gear do you prefer?
I love Atom brand wheels. I enjoy trying out all brands of equipment. I’m a Skatelog Forum junkie.
What do you do when you’re not playing derby?
I’m an environmental engineer, and I enjoy playing tennis. One of my personal goals is to play in a tennis tournament in 2013.
Do you have any advice to anyone thinking about playing derby?
Just do it! It isn’t as scary as it seems and league members will even help you learn how to skate.
Did you play any sports before roller derby?
I played basketball and tennis. I was also in marching band and color guard/twirlers (I’m counting it as a sport!)
