May’s Diable Rouge: C-Murdaa

C-Murdaa

C-Murdaa

Name: C-Murdaa

Number: 827

What are the reasons behind derby name/number?
I didn’t have a derby name until, like, 2 weeks before my first bout. I’m not very creative and couldn’t think of anything, so I went with C-Murdaa, which was an inside joke from when I was 16 (if I could have it my way I wouldn’t have a derby name, I like my real name a little too much hah). And my number is my little brother, Elijah’s, birthday.

Which position do you play?
Well I used to mainly jam, but as of late I’ve been blocking a lot more

What first attracted you to derby?
Well I found out that my younger cousin was signing up to play for Cenla when she turned 18, hearing that made me a little jealous so I decided join before she had a chance to ;)

What type of gear do you prefer?
Looooveeeeee Atom wheels

What do you do when you’re not playing derby?
I go to school at Southeastern (graduate in DECEMBER) and I am a server at Outback Steak House in Gonzales. Other than working and school I hang out with my wonderful boyfriend and spend as much time as I can with my little brother, Elijah.

Do you have a favorite skating song or a theme song?
I always listen to Maino’s “Gangsta” when I do my 25 in 5, but I can listen to anything really. Oh and of course “All We do is Win” is always a theme song for Red Stick ;)

What is your favorite thing about derby?
….uh everything duh

What is your most memorable derby moment?
I guess it would be playing in the Belle Ringer Tournament. It was really cool for the DR’s to ask me to play with them during it; it made me feel all warm and special.

Do you have a favorite sign of cheer you’ve seen in the audience?
Before I was on the Diables Rouges I used to make a ton of signs. I really like the one of Moxie’s picture and it just said MILF. I also got shirts made for Tank that said WW(picture of a tank)D? and another shirt made for Turbo, that said Turb is the Word.

Did you play any sports before roller derby?
I played soccer; started when I was seven and stopped when I was 16

Do you have any advice to anyone thinking about playing derby?
JUST DO IT. Seriously. Yes it will be hard, but it is so worth it. It is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Is there any teammate with whom you work best?
M’AM!  I work well with Jams, but I think I am pretty flexible and can work with a lot of people

Who is your favorite roller derby player?
My ninjas!

What are your goals in roller derby?
To always take all forms of feedback. Learn more. Always skate like I mean it. STOP BEING A CRY BABY.
