Purpose: Red Stick Roller Derby (RSRD) is an all-female, full contact, flat track roller derby league committed to the betterment of the physical and mental strength of its members through fostering the amateur sport of roller derby. Skaters are females aged eighteen or over who exhibit exceptional athleticism, leadership, and sportsmanlike conduct both on and off the track. The league donates a portion of its funds to various other non-profit organizations and charities. Red Stick Roller Derby follows the rules and a guideline set forth by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and subscribes to its "by the skaters, for the skaters" ethic.
Vision: Red Stick Roller Derby will contribute to charitable organizations financially as well as with donations of time and presence at public appearances. The skaters of RSRD want to compete on a national and international level as a WFTDA recognized league.
Statement: Founded in 2007 by a handful of dedicated and ambitious girls, the Red Stick Roller Derby league has exploded into one of the most recognized and well-established teams in the state. While still a young league compared to the national and international derby community, Red Stick Roller Derby is well on its way to becoming a major competitor in this newly revitalized sport. As a recently established member of the Woman's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), Red Stick Roller Derby is relentless with the desire to become a force to be reckoned with. Above all, we are a professional team that always strives for fair play.
We welcome everyone who wants to watch one of our bouts. People of all ages will enjoy seeing one of the only sports that is primarily played and run by women. Those that remember the original derby of the 50's and 60's now have to chance to re-embrace and fall in love with the sport all over again.
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association
Red Stick has been a proud member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association since December 2011.
Founded in 2004, the WFTDA promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is "by the skaters, for the skaters." Women skaters are primary managers and operators of each member league and of the association. Operational tasks include setting standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues.
